Application
Fishing & Aquaculture Rope
Twines and ropes for net making and repair, longlines, cages and marine farming — the home ground of PE monofilament twine.
What this application actually demands
- Rot-proof and non-absorbent for permanent immersion
- Consistent diameter/ply for netting and mending work
- Abrasion tolerance against cages, frames and hardware
- Buoyancy behavior matched to the gear (floating PE/PP vs sinking fibers)
Recommended combinations
| Material | Construction | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Polyethylene (PE) | Monofilament Twine | The industry standard for net repair — stiff, abrasion-tolerant, economical |
| Polyethylene (PE) | Multifilament Twine | Softer twine for net making and lashing |
| Polyethylene (PE) | 3 Strand Twisted Rope | Utility ropes around cages and farms; stays flexible in cold water |

Buying tips
- Specify twine by denier/ply system (e.g. 210D/12) or by diameter AND runlength — never by diameter alone
- State the gear type (gillnet, cage, longline, pot) — construction advice follows from it
- Ask for matching between twine and netting mesh size when repairing existing nets
