Cotton rope is bought for its feel and appearance, not its performance. It is soft in the hand, takes knots beautifully, can be dyed in deep matte colors and gives packaging, display and craft products a natural character that synthetics cannot imitate.

Its limitations are equally clear: cotton absorbs water, rots outdoors and is far weaker than any synthetic rope of the same diameter. For buyers, the correct frame is “indoor, decorative, hand-contact” — anything structural or outdoor belongs in PP, PE, nylon or polyester.
