Hollow Braided Rope
A core-less braid that is light, flexible and — in polypropylene — floats. Famously easy to splice; the classic water-ski and buoy line.
How it is built
Strands (commonly 8, 12 or 16) braided into a tube with no core. The hollow center allows the rope to be spliced by feeding the rope back into itself.
How it handles
Very flexible, flattens easily, non-rotating. The easiest braided construction to splice — a clean eye splice takes minutes with a fid.

Strengths
- Extremely easy and fast to splice
- In PP: floats — ideal around water
- Non-rotating, flexible, easy to coil
- Light weight for its diameter
Limitations
- Lower abrasion tolerance than solid or double braid
- Flattens under load — not for pulleys
- Strength per diameter below double braid

Polypropylene Rope
The most widely used synthetic rope fiber: lightweight, floats on water, rot-proof and economical. The default choice for packing, marine utility and agriculture.
Polyethylene Rope
Soft, flexible and floatable — the standard fiber of the fishing and aquaculture industry, and a good choice for cold-weather or repeated-handling utility rope.
